Project Fairytale

…and they lived happily ever after.

But not without a lot of first dates, second dates, relationships, romance and wonder.  Sex and The City’s Carrie Bradshaw gave us a lot of questions to ponder about relationships and if the fairytale ending really does exist.  If I am being honest, I have to tell you, I still believe in the fairytale, where dreams do come true.  And why not?

Whether Belle, Jasmine, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Samantha, Miranda, Charlotte or Carrie they all wished for their Prince Charming to be real and to whisk them away someday.

There is a reason so many of us keep watching the reruns.  We are addicted to the capricious antics, the trials and the tribulations of this quartet of ladies.  After twelve years and 94 episodes, SATC may have ended in 2004, but the reign of dating and relationships lives on.  In a different city and with a different generation of great girl friends, my friends and I wonder the same things about the dating game and the ultimate prize, the fairytale ending.

With over ninety relationship analyzing prompts to wonder, that is exactly what we did.  Every few weeks my girlfriends and I would meet for “social” drinks whilst sipping expresso martinis, Champaign, Manhattans or whatever the pleasure of the afternoon, we would choose a new wonderment; the funny, the absurdity, the racy details, the conquests, the tears, the laughter and the lessons learned (if any) to chat about.

And, once in a while, in the midst of the many dates and relationships, love gives us a fairytale and it’s magical.

I had to wonder, were my friends and I making the most of the fairytale or was the fairytale making the most of us?
